It's been quite long since I updated this blog. Well, sometimes the mood is just not there, but for most of time I'm just simply lazy. I wanted to write in Bahasa Indonesia, and I did write a few lines, but it sounds too weird, so I erased it. Not that I want to be cocky or anything, but English comes more natural to me as a writing language. It's been ages since I write anything in formal Bahasa Indonesia and I feel that I SHOULD practice it, somehow. I luuurve reading blogs in Bahasa, like Alice's blog or Bram's. I always put my attention on how they write formally without sounding stiff and I really wish that I could write like that. Probably my next entries would show manifestation of that wish.
Just a few random things:
- I almost bought a car last weekend. Big stuff, huh.. It scares me a little to be given such a responsibility to own a car. But, at the same time, it makes me realize that I AM entering adulthood and part of it needs me to have big responsibilities. Sometimes I feel like I'm still seventeen and I wish that I could snuggle up in my mother's armpit forever or let my dad make all of my decisions. But, unfortunately, that's not how time works around here. Hey, but I did not buy the car last weekend, due to some things. Long story short, I didn't really trust the seller and he's being a bit complicated about the paperwork. But, I'm sure I can find another car soon. I hope.
- I watched "Evan Almighty". It's rated PG, pretty harmless, pretty refreshing... Overall, a good clean weekend entertainment. It's also amazing how they make such a religious story so funny. And now I'll always remember Genesis 6:14!!!
- I just realize that I like group projects. I used to hate it a lot and will do anything to avoid working in groups. But now, I like my engineering communcation class, I enjoy working in my group although we had a rough start. Weird, but I look forward to our presentation and it's not just because I want to get it over with. Being the only girl in the group, I naturally take the role of the secretary and the organizer. Guys are truly sucky when it comes to taking notes. Geez, they did not even take out their notebook or anything. But, they do their job, so I'm really happy with my group. Thanks guys, for making the class enjoyable.
- I was talking to James, one of my group members the other day and he was asking if I'm from Houston. So I said, " No, I'm from Indonesia." And he was like," Is Phillipines in Indonesia?" Wuahahaha... My goodness, that was one of the "gubrakest" moments in my life and one of the most hilarious responses to me being from Indonesia. Well, I can't blame him though, it's normal not to know about countries that are half around the globe from you. For example, two days ago my roomie, Grace and I were talking about somebody working in Siberia and she said that she first thought that Siberia is in Africa and she was so confident about it. Meanwhile, for some reason, the first thing I thought of when I heard the word Siberia was "Gerombolan Siberat", which is so unrelated. For those of you who are as clueless as us, let me tell you that Siberia, by Iwan's definition is: "This is Russia (left hand up in the air, half way closed palm representing Russia), and this is China (right hand doing the same as the left to represent China). And the super humongous piece of land in between is Siberia." Well, he then corrected that Siberia is actually part of Russia and not a separate country. Hahaha there's a reason that I major in Chem E and not Geography.
- I went to DSW yesterday and had some good deals!! So happy!! I bought a pair of shoes for my sister, it's Nine West and is supposed to be 60 something dollars but I got an 80% discount. And, I got 2 pairs of sunglasses that are supposed to be 30 bucks for each, also slashed by 80%. Muahahaha... but, I found out today that one of the glasses lost a screw. I guess there's a trade-off for everything cheap.
- And, lastly, I can't stop eating "craisins". It's raisins made out of sweetened dried cranberries instead of grapes, but it is orange flavored. Well, in short, it's fruity.
