One on my class handouts says this:
The renowned physicist Sommerfeld was asked why he had never written a book on thermodynamics. He is supposed to have replied:
“It’s a funny subject. The first time you go through it, you don’t understand it at all.
The second time you think you do, except for one or two minor points.
The third time you know you don’t understand it, but by then you are used to it, so it doesn’t bother you.”
I feel a lot better :)
